Antibody-Adviser: Keeping track of antibodies has never been so easy!

A widely used technique to detect proteins in extracts prepared from cells or tissues. Samples are run on a gel electrophoresis and proteins are then transferred to a membrane that will be incubated with primary and secondary antibodies. The horseradish peroxidase is the most common enzyme linked to the secondary antibodies. This enzyme cleaves a chemiluminescent agent and produces luminescence that will be capture by the visualization device. Not all western blot methods are quantitative but the selection of the good detection / visualization enables accurate protein quantification.
